Zaha Hadid’s One Thousand Museum Tops Off in Time for Star Role in PBS Documentary

Starchitect Zaha Hadid’s iconic Miami skyscraper has officially topped off at 709 feet, and perfect timing, as PBS will showcase the innovative tower on a construction documentary ‘Impossible Builds‘ on Wednesday, February 7th at 10 p.m., which will feature the most complex, technologically-advanced construction projects on the planet!  Check out the trailer of Impossible Builds below with a starring role by One Thousand Museum!

Developers, contractors and workers celebrated the topping off of the Downtown Miami luxe tower on Friday by flying an American flag on top of the structure. Construction on the 83-unit tower began in December of 2014, giving the Magic City many ‘firsts,’ as the tower started with a historic concrete pour in late summer of 2015 and went through the installation of the country’s 1st-ever building exoskeleton shipped from Dubai.

One Thousand Museum is estimated for completion by the end of December of this year (2018).

One Thousand Museum Loses Legendary Architect Zaha Hadid

Zaha Hadid, the groundbreaking starchitect who was the first woman to win the Pritzker Prize, the highest honor in her profession, sadly died in Miami today.

The world-renowned architect suffered a sudden heart attack while being treated in the hospital for bronchitis that she contracted earlier this week, according to the New York Times.

Zaha Hadid was highly celebrated for her groundbreaking designs that left a mark on skylines around the globe. In fact, her passing sadly hits home since Zaha Hadid just recently brought her incredible talents to South Florida to build her first residential tower in the United States as she designed the 62-story ultra-luxe tower, One Thousand Museum, that will be situated in the epicenter of Downtown Miami directly across from the stunning waters of Biscayne Bay. One Thousand Museum, because of Ms. Hadid, has provided Miami with an unprecedented architectural design including the tower being the first building in the U.S. to use a glass-fiber reinforced concrete shell as the permanent frame for its highly-innovative exoskeleton, which you can see below.

One Thousand Museum Condos

One Thousand Museum Condos

With only 83 luxury residences, and its museum-like designs, over-the-top amenities including a rooftop helipad and the spectacular direct-water views, One Thousand Museum is already an iconic place to call home in Miami. But, after today, some believe there will be an exponential rise in value because One Thousand Museum is Zaha Hadid’s first and last ever residential masterpiece in the United States.

In fact, one of my clients from overseas who has been considering purchasing at One Thousand Museum called me this afternoon to discuss the impact Ms. Hadid’s passing will have on the project. It is his belief that her passing can be compared to an artist’s passing and their artwork increasing in value.

Sadly, I am sure my client will not be the only person to think about this. When world-renowned artists pass away, their artwork appreciates considerably, and One Thousand Museum will be no different. Residences at One Thousand Museum will be part of a forever art collection, and forever be cherished by those around the world who admired Zaha Hadid.

Rest in Peace, Ms. Hadid, you will be forever missed.

38 Canadian Real Estate Professionals Tour Miami Pre-construction Projects With Michael Light

Last week, I hosted a group of 38 members from Toronto, Canada’s Building Industry and Land Development Association (“BILD”) for exclusive presentations of Miami’s top pre-construction condo developments. The study tour for the BILD group was primarily to learn how Miami developers are attracting luxury buyers to our Miami market AND many of the individuals on the tour were interested in purchasing pre-construction condos for their own investment purposes.

One of the members of BILD is an avid reader of this very blog and thought I would be the perfect broker to work with because of my knowledge of the Miami condo market. About nine months ago, I was approached by BILD to assist them with touring multiple, highly-sought-after pre-construction condo developments in Greater Downtown Miami, including Brickell and Edgewater along with Sunny Isles Beach. I spent the better part of a month putting together the logistics of the tour which took place on Wednesday and Friday last week.

On Wednesday, I started the tour with a presentation and breakfast at the Delano Hotel where I presented a snapshot of the Miami condo market, average pricing by neighborhood and an overview of the vast number of new projects either currently under construction or in the planning stages. We went on to receive presentations of Elysee, Gran Paraiso and Aria on the Bay in Edgewater and One Thousand Museum and Paramount Miami Worldcenter in Downtown Miami. On Friday, we began our day by visiting Brickell Flatiron, who hosted a breakfast for the group, and then went on a walking tour through Brickell as I pointed out and described each individual building under construction and existing, on our way to visit Brickell City Centre’s Reach and Rise Towers followed by a visit to Sunny Isles Beach for an amazing presentation of Porsche Design Tower to end the day and the tour.

The overall tour was a great success! I made great connections with many developers, brokers looking to refer their clients in the Miami area and others that were interested in individually purchasing investment properties in Miami.

The Real Deal attended my presentation on Wednesday at the Delano Hotel prior to the tour, so please CLICK HERE to see the article written by the Real Deal.
