The Perigon Miami Beach Reveals Private Michelin-Starred Restaurant And Speakeasy

As demolition begins in the building that currently stands where The Perigon Miami Beach will soon rise, details about an opulent new amenity in the boutique development are being revealed. The Perigon will be the first building in Miami to offer a private residents’-only restaurant with a Michelin-starred chef.

According to an official unveiling that was delivered to our doorstep, Starwood Capital and Mast Capital are partnering with famed Michelin-starred chef Shaun Hergatt to open a private eatery and speakeasy inside of the exclusive waterfront development. The announcement included a sample of Caspy Caviar, a convenient way to find sustainably-sourced top quality caviars and have them delivered to your doorstep. Caspy Caviar is also one of Hergatt’s brands, so is something we will expect to see at Nota, the name given to the new restaurant.

“The Perigon is proud to announce Michelin-starred chef Shaun Hergatt joining the team of world-class visionaries. The celebrated executive chef and owner behind some of New York’s most famed Michelin-starred restaurants will be the curator of culinary delights and beverages for the property, specifically the newly revealed restaurant and speakeasy.

As a taste of what is to come, please enjoy Chef Shaun Hergatt’s private label caviar. Sincerely, Camilo Miguel Jr.” read the handwritten note accompanying the gift announcement.

Nota will take advantage of the oceanfront location with plenty of locally-sourced ingredients centering around a clean, crisp Mediterranean-inspired palette anchored by rich seafood. Chef Hergatt plans to utilize woodfire grilling techiques in order to create approachable yet refined dishes that play to the understated elegance of the development.

In addition to Nota, a private speakeasy dubbed FiftyThree will offer an intimate mood with a playful aesthetic. Also focusing on locally-sourced fresh ingredients, FiftyThree experiments with bold colors and patterns highlighted by bronze fixtures and accents and a whiskey-themed palate. With the name paying homage to the development’s location at 5333 Collins Avenue, FiftyThree will be the perfect place for a stylish waiting area to sip a cocktail before a night out, or a sophisticated nightcap after dinner.

If you venture toward 53rd and Collins on Miami Beach today, you will find the 15-story La Costa condominium in the early stages of demolition. According to The Next Miami, rather than using an implosion, developers are demolishing the interior of the existing building first and a conventional demolition of the structure will follow. The finished product will be a 18-story ultra-luxury development designed by Rem Koolhaus and outfitted by Tara Bernerd Partners.

“We are designing more than a condominium at The Perigon, it is a private, highly serviced five-star resort exclusively for the owners. Additionally, our partnership with such a notable chef as Shaun Hergatt further solidifies the commitment to the quality of luxury The Perigon will offer to its residents,” said Camilo Miguel Jr, Mast Capital’s CEO.

Residences at The Perigon range from 2,100 square feet to 6,700 square feet and are priced from $4 million. A collection of guest suites are also available for those who have frequent guests or live-in help.

David Grutman Teams Up With Bad Bunny To Bring Gekkō Japanese Steakhouse To Brickell

David Grutman is getting ready to drop a hit with Puerto-Rican song meister, Bad Bunny in Brickell. They are teaming up to launch a new Japanese steakhouse in the restaurant space at 801 S Miami Avenue, under the condo development SLS Lux.

This is not the first time that Groot has teamed up with a superstar to launch a new concept. Over recent years, the award-winning nightlife and entertainment company has also teamed up with Pharrell Williams to bring the uber-popular Swan in the Miami Design District and Strawberry Moon at the Goodtime Hotel in Miami Beach. This appears to be the first restaurant venture for Bad Bunny, we are anticipating it will be as good as expected from a Groot brand, but with prices lower than one of Bad Bunny’s concert tickets. As we all remember, the tickets from his last tour were so in demand that they were being sold for between $500-$2,000 apiece.

So let’s talk about Gekkō!

The space that Gekkō is slated to occupy is the same space that once housed Katsuya Brickell, which did not survive the pandemic. It has 8,412 square feet of indoor space, a private dining room and a 3,000 square foot patio with the capacity for 185 diners. Given the reputation of Groot’s other concepts that include Papi Steak, LIV, Story, Komodo and The Key Club, we are prepared for plenty of celebrity sightings.

The menu plans to offer elaborately presented steaks and is focused around prime cuts of Wagyu with different preparations and some hints of Korean barbecue flavors. There will be a component of table-side preparations, as well as a full sushi menu and an omakse bar. For those who are not familiar, the omakse bar is where diners simply pay for the seat and the experience. There is no menu, the guests are left to the creativity of the chef.

The interiors have been entrusted with The Rockwell Group to create a luxurious yet contemporary aesthetic that includes graphic wall coverings, jewel tones and natural wood accents. Get your cameras ready, because this is going to be one Instagram hotspot!

Gekkō is slated to open this summer, hopefully in July. We are looking forward to it!

Amal Miami, Coconut Grove’s Luxurious Lebanese Restaurant, Opens to Rave Reviews

Beirut-born restauranteur with over 20 hospitality venues in operation, Charles Khabouth is bringing his gift to Coconut Grove with Amal Miami. This will be the second location of Amal, with the first being an immensely successful eatery in Toronto. The eatery pays tribute to Khabouth’s Lebanese roots with a fine-dining approach to authentic Lebanese cuisine.

“As a Beirut native, it gives me a great sense of pride that our deep-rooted traditions of sharing and making guests feel at ease and welcomed are ingrained into the Amal dining experience,” says CEO and Founder of INK Entertainment Group, Charles Khabouth. “The essence of Lebanese food and culture is to enjoy a meal in a warm and inviting atmosphere, where you can come as a guest but leave as family, and I cannot wait to welcome the Coconut Grove family in.”

The menu is crafted by chef Wissam Baki, whose experience includes the InterContinental in Beirut. Sumptuously plated, every dish and crafted drink is Instagram-worthy. The dishes are shareable, as is Lebanese culture, with dips like hummus and baba ghanouj, salads, skewers, lamb, seafood and some new twists to traditional dishes.

Having opened on May 24, the restaurant is already receiving rave reviews. User Rafael on Yelp reports, “When you think about Lebanese food you normally think curry but having gone there and trying the different foods just left me breathless. I would have never thought I’d like egg plant or cauliflower. The food is amazing and the service was great. It’s going to be the hottest Restaurant in the Grove.”

If you are looking for a new restaurant to impress friends, family or a date, make sure to mosey on up to the rooftop bar for an awe-inspiring view of the bay before sitting down to feast. Amal is currently open for happy hour and dinner every day of the week at 3480 Main Highway in Coconut Grove.
