Miami’s Habitat for Humanity Annual Blitz Build 2017 Posted on February 14, 2017 by Michael Light On Saturday, February 11th, colleagues from the Douglas Elliman Coconut Grove & Brickell offices teamed up to sponsor a team build for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami’s Annual Blitz Build 2017. Habitat for Humanity’s Blitz Build is an annual event in Miami (Homestead) wherein 10 houses are built from the ground up in only 2 weeks for qualified, low-income, first-time home buyers. Our Team Build, led by my amazing wife Jaimee and myself, included construction on house #10, where all of us, with the exception of myself, had no experience in construction but worked very hard to pitch in wherever we could including structural framing and the installation of all windows. This year, our team build helped a hard-working mother own her very first home for her and her 10-year-old son! Those not familiar with how Habitat works…in order to qualify to be a Habitat homeowner, a family must be first-time home buyers and qualify under the Habitat standards. Habitat for Humanity Liberty City Team Build Posted on June 9, 2015June 10, 2015 by Michael Light Last week, Miami Luxury Homes teamed up with Exclusive Title Company to co-sponsor a team build for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami. Our team build took place at a house in Liberty City which will be sold with 0% interest financing to a deserving, low-income family when completed—very soon. Although every team build is different as far as the tasks, for this team build I assisted with the roofing of the house since I have experience as a former contractor, and the rest of the team completed the entire front and back yard of landscaping including laying all of the sod and planting all the trees and flowers. It was a fun day filled with hard work, but was very rewarding. Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build 2015…Giving Back Posted on February 26, 2015 by Michael Light Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build 2015 Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami…what a fantastic organization. My wife, Jaimee, and I were honored to participate in the annual Blitz Build today. Blitz Build is an annual Habitat for Humanity Event in Miami wherein 10 houses are built in 2 weeks for qualified, low-income families. Today, Jaimee and I got to cut and place all of the baseboards, caulk, paint and hang sliding doors with other individuals for 1 of the 10 houses. So incredibly humbling to see the house really come together at the end of the day for such a deserving family. It is really important to give back to the community, and this is a great organization to be a part of. Miami Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build 2015 Posted on February 4, 2015 by Michael Light Miami Habitat for Humanity Blitz Build 2015 There are still spots available for volunteering at the annual Habitat for Humanity of Greater Miami Habitat Landings BLITZ BUILD 2015! With the help of more than 2,000 volunteers, Miami Habitat for Humanity will build 10 new homes for deserving, low-income families at the Habitat Landings Community located in South Miami-Dade County. BLITZ BUILD will kick off on Friday, February 13th and run through February 28th, ending with an uplifting ceremony for the families in need.
