Miami Luxury Homes just leased Penthouse 6307 at 900 Biscayne Bay at an equally-record-breaking rental price for Downtown Miami at $18,000 per month. Famous for being NBA superstar Kevin Durant’s former Miami pad, Penthouse 6307 at 900 Biscayne Bay is completely decked out with designer furniture, a $300,000+ audio/visual system and complimented by spectacular direct-water views of Biscayne Bay and Miami Beach.

In August of 2015, Miami Luxury Homes originally set the record for the most expensive rental in Downtown Miami, ever, for this same penthouse at $18,000 per month to a local family who was remodeling their mansion on Palm Island. Although that tenant only leased the penthouse for 5 months, it was the highest priced rental in Downtown Miami’s history.

The current tenant, who is a local businessman, who owns a laundry list of over-the-top residences in South Florida, plans to stay in the unit for the long-haul, at least 3 years.

I have received multiple offers to lease the unit over the past few months. Every time I had shown it, the response was the same…it is amazing, best views, very well decorated, etc. In addition to receiving great feedback, I received offers. Each offer was unrealistically low, but all of them came with an explanation and amateur attempt at predicting the future of the Miami condo market. The market is slowing or inventory is growing were two of the common explanations I received with offers, only in an attempt to secure Penthouse 6307 at a very low price. Our new tenant, after seeing many penthouses in Miami, made me an offer on the spot. He felt, based on the quality of the finishes, views and building, that this was the property for him and his family.

Recently, there has been a whirlwind of negative press about the Miami condo market. In fact, I recently wrote a rebuttal to the Wall Street Journal’s terribly-written hit piece about Miami. Reading it, you would think that the “sky is falling” and that the Miami real estate market was imploding…all while using no actual facts to back up the story. This record-setting lease is just one example of the health of the Miami condo market.
