After many years of back and forth, its seems legit that Miami will sooner than later be home to the largest shopping mall in the entire country…’American Dream Miami.’
Some people are wondering why Triple Five, the developers of Minnesota’s Mall of America, would move forward with plans to build the country’s largest mega mall in South Florida at a time when brick-and-mortar shopping seems to be at an all-time low. But, this mega mall seems to be more of a mini Disney World meets Downtown Disney type of mall with an emphasis on experiential offerings over commercial goods, instead of a traditional box mall, according to the Wall Street Journal.
Spanning nearly 174 acres along the Florida Turnpike in Miami Lakes, American Dream Miami will be more of an entertainment district, offering indoor rollercoasters, skating rink, water park, lagoon with submarine rides, artificial ski slope, outdoor fishing center, miniature golf and a performing arts center. The $4 Billion, 6.2-million-square-foot complex will also include a luxury hotel consisting of 2,000 hotel rooms to accommodate some of the 30 million annual visitors that are expected to visit the entertainment complex.
Currently, the developers have secured zoning approval from the Miami-Dade County Commission, but are now in the process of securing environmental and water permits for the mega project.
