Cinemex Theatre to be Newest Addition to Brickell City Centre Posted on September 25, 2014 by Michael Light Cinemex at Brickell City Centre, Source: exMiami Cinemex Theatre was recently announced as the newest addition to the highly-anticipated, $1.05 Billion mixed-use development, Brickell City Centre. Swire Properties, the developers of Brickell City Centre, struck a deal with Mexico-based Cinemex to build an ultra-luxury, dine-in cinema at Brickell City Centre, according to exMiami. This 35,677 square foot lavish cinema will be Cinemex’s first movie theater in the Unites States and will open in 2016. Cinemex, the 6th largest cinema chain in the world, will be partnering up with Mike Alonso, chef of Biko, which was named the best restaurant in Mexico and one of the top 50 restaurants in the world, to create an unprecedented, 622-seat, dine-in cinema boasting comfortable, leather seats in 11 well-furnished screening rooms. Cinemex will also be employing renowned Mexico City mixologist, Mica Rousseau, to work with Mike Alonso to create an exceptional experience. The Cinemex at Brickell City Centre will be designed by Miami-based designer, Loguer Design. The theater’s facade will simulate a large “telón,” a theater curtain, through a significant, large-scale LED screen with animated content. The telón will also act as a significant architectural continuation of the one-of-a-kind Climate Ribbon™, which is a highly-sophisticated climate management system. According to Javier Ezquerro, the Vice President of Concessions for Cinemex, “Brickell City Center will create the perfect setting for Cinemex, and Cinemex could not have chosen a better location than the Brickell/Downtown Miami area. The announcement of this luxury cinema has come only about a month after Swire’s announcement to have Saks Fifth Avenue as the anchor store of Brickell City Centre’s 565,000 square foot shopping mecca and will be an outstanding addition to Brickell City Centre as it will fill the absence of a movie theater in the Brickell and Downtown Miami area.

What a great decision to establish Saks Fifth Avenue as the anchor store for Brickell City Centre.
