Miami has ranked 5th in the U.S. for 2015’s “Most Walkable” cities, according to Walk Score, an informative neighborhood website that states that “walkable neighborhoods with access to public transit, better commutes and proximity to the people and places you love are the key to a happier, healthier and more sustainable lifestyle.”
Only slightly lagging behind New York, San Francisco, Boston and Philadelphia, Miami is now considered a “Very Walkable” city. Although Miami has never been considered as high on the walkability charts when compared with other big cities around the country, Miami is getting a whole new image, mostly credited to the surge in commercial development, the rise in residential condo developments and the city planning of new transit systems. So many new projects are on the horizon which will only enhance the walkability of Miami, and I am really excited about these new mega projects. For example, the second largest urban development in the U.S is coming to Downtown Miami, the Miami Worldcenter and Brickell is home to Brickell City Centre, which will be a spectacular city within a city!
Although Miami has been known for many years as a vibrant city full of sunshine, beaches and fun, Miami over the past few years has become so much more. It has not only developed as the second largest banking city in the country, only second to New York City, but has also evolved into a highly-celebrated city for its art, culture, entertainment and wellness. Living in Miami is truly the essence of living an exciting, active, outdoor lifestyle.
