South Beach, also known as SoBe, is a vibrant neighborhood located at the southern end of Miami Beach between 5th and 23rd Streets. South Beach, likely the most popular neighborhood in Miami Beach, is globally known for its exciting nightlife and gorgeous beaches, but South Beach offers much more culture and entertainment. For instance, South Beach is famous for its art deco designs, historic hotels, shopping, restaurants and its uber-luxury condo living options.
Whether you are people-watching, enjoying the white sand beaches, shopping or experiencing a night on the town, South Beach is always glamorous and high energy. You can choose to do as much or as little as you please just steps away from your very own oceanfront condo on South Beach, your tropical retreat in one of the world’s top destinations.
Art Deco, which is the famed architecture in the heart of South Beach, is not only an architectural style, but is a global design aesthetic that first trended in Paris in 1925. Art Deco then spread worldwide during the 1920’s through the early 40’s and popularized during this time period in South Beach. Further, in 1979, the Art Deco District in South Beach was listed on the National Register of Historic Places with the largest collection of Art Deco architecture in the world. The Art Deco District in the heart of South Beach is located between 5th and 23rd Streets along Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue. So, if you find yourself strolling along one of these celebrated streets, you will notice the Art Deco architecture on the exterior façade of many of the buildings, but some of the most quintessential Art Deco buildings in South Beach are The Colony Hotel, Park Central Hotel, Essex House, The Clevelander, The Delano, The Webster, The Breakwater, The Raleigh and The Tides.
South Beach offers a multitude of shopping including an array of local boutiques, but it is well known for its outdoor shopping mall, Lincoln Road, which is situated between 16th Street and 17th Street. Lincoln Road is considered South Beach’s main shopping area. It is an open-air, pedestrian-only mall, lined on both sides with trendy shops, unique boutiques, restaurants, cafes, cinema and sizzling entertainment at night. As you stroll along Ocean Drive, Collins Avenue and Washington Avenue, you will find a large selection of shops and dining choices, featuring cuisines from around the world reflecting the multi-cultural make-up of South Florida.
South Beach has two large parks, Flamingo Park, with over 36 acres including amenities such as tennis courts, basketball courts, baseball and soccer fields, swimming pool and water playground for kids and South Pointe Park, encompassing 17 acres in the affluent neighborhood of South of Fifth or SoFi, boasting spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, Biscayne Bay, Fisher Island and the Miami skyline. South Pointe Park runs along Government Cut, where some of the largest cruise ships in the world can be seen arriving and departing the Port of Miami.
Some of the most luxurious South Beach condos are located in the ultra-affluent neighborhood, South of Fifth, which is also referred to locally as SoFi. The enclave South of Fifth is a small neighborhood situated on the southern tip of Miami Beach that begins at South Pointe Park and covers north to 5th Street, from east to west. As one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in Miami Beach, it should be no surprise that SoFi is home to some of the most luxe condo towers in all of South Florida and is truly an ideal place to call home. A few of the ultra-high-end luxury condos South of Fifth include Continuum South Beach, Apogee South Beach, 321 Ocean, One Ocean, Murano at Portofino, and the newly-constructed Glass Miami Beach.
