Major Transformation of the Greater Downtown Miami Area
Five or six years ago, the greater Downtown Miami area shut down around 6 p.m. Thousands of people would flock to Downtown Miami and Brickell during the week to work and then the mass exodus at the end of the day would leave the neighborhood deserted on nights and weekends. That has completely changed. Starting with Mary Brickell Village offering an eclectic variety of dining, shopping and entertainment, the greater downtown area has been on the verge of great changes since. With the major growth in the arts scene and culture including the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) and Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, along with all of the new construction mega-projects including Brickell City Centre, Miami Worldcenter and SkyRise Miami and the transit systems such as All Aboard Florida, Downtown Miami is in the midst of some remarkably-awesome changes!
Instead of coming to work in Downtown Miami and/or Brickell and then peacing out immediately, people are now wanting to live, work and play in the greater downtown area. With condo projects being associated with some of these billion dollar mega-projects such as Rise and Reach condo towers at Brickell City Centre and the signature condo tower, Paramount Miami Worldcenter atop the Mall at Miami Worldcenter, people are really becoming attracted to living and playing in Downtown Miami and Brickell.
Downtown Miami has so much to offer and things just keep getting better. Now, developers and owners of restaurants, retail stores and venture start-up companies are flocking to the downtown area, and this change is only going to bring more positive vibes to the area. Although for years, Miami was internationally and nationally recognized only for its beaches and basically South Beach (even though Miami has no beaches and South Beach is in Miami Beach where the beaches are, most people confuse all as the same), now that’s not the case. Yeah the beaches are amazing, but Miami has a lot more to offer than just fun in the sun and tropical weather, a lot more.
Check out a great video by the Miami Downtown Development Authority showing the amazing and continuous transformation of greater Downtown Miami.
