2024 Coconut Grove Real Estate Values | Year-Over-Year Numbers

I am pleased to share with you my annual Coconut Grove statistics report highlighting that, yet again, Coconut Grove has outpaced a cooling national real estate market by setting new, all-time records across multiple categories!

Herein, I have compiled and analyzed the 2023 statistics, per MLS data, by hand-calculating the stats to ensure they are accurate for our readers. This information allows you to see for yourself the market trends in our community.

I would also like to note the reason I have been so passionate and adamant about publishing the Coconut Grove sales analytics annually for the past 10 years is that I am a Groveite through and through. I truly care about the health of our community and helping my neighbors, and future neighbors, fully understand where the Grove housing market has been and the direction it is headed.

Further, the Grove holds a dear place in my heart for an array of reasons…I met my wife in the Grove 15 years ago, we got married at St. Hugh with our reception held at the historic Villa Woodbine, I am currently the Executive Director of luxury Sales at Douglas Elliman Real Estate in our Two CocoWalk office, my wife and I have lived in Coconut Grove together for 13 years and are raising our daughter and 2 rescue dogs in our home in North Grove.

The overall market in South Florida exploded in 2021 and continued in 2022 due to an enormous influx of buyers from New York, Chicago and L.A. because of our favorable tax rates, Covid and “the way that Florida is being run” – (that last one being the most popular answer when asking buyers “why Florida?”). Then, in 2023, our neighborhood shattered all previous years. Many people believed we had truly hit the “top” of the market in 2022 and it would be impossible to continue…well, those people were wrong.

The Coconut Grove real estate market had increased year-over-year for 9 consecutive years until it exploded during the Covid bounce of 2020-2022…and then topped those numbers in 2023 by most metrics. Here are some takeaways from the 2023 numbers:

  • Number of sales dropped 22.6% over last year, but total sales volume in ALL of the Grove went up slightly to $858,164,400; because…
  • The average sales price in ALL of the Grove set another new, all-time high at $2,364,089, a 30% jump over 2022 and a whopping jump of 144.2% from $968,237 in 2019 (pre-Covid).
  • The average sales price per square foot in ALL of the Grove also set another new, all-time high at $929.79, a 14.3% jump over 2022 and a ridiculous 115.3% jump over the pre-Covid 2019 high of $431.92.
  • South Grove was the first neighborhood to EVER have both the average ($1,195.04) and median ($1,130.42) price per sq/ft over $1,100 in 2023!
  • The average sale price in NORTH Grove jumped 37.8% year-over-year, one of the highest jumps ever recorded.

Coconut Grove Real Estate – Months of Supply (February 2024)

Months of supply means how long it would take for the market to absorb all real estate, if no additional real estate came to market. This stat determines whether it is a Buyer’s Market or Seller’s Market. When looking at statistics, having a 6-month supply or less favors sellers while more than 6 months favors buyers. Any supply that is 6-9 months is considered a stable market.

Single-Family Homes: 8.5-Month Supply (Buyer’s Market)

92 Currently Available
65 Sold in Past 6 Months

Condos: 8.9-Month Supply (Buyer’s Market)

104 Currently Available
70 Sold in Past 6 Months

Townhomes: 6.5-Month Supply (Balanced Market)

Latin Music Week Is Here! Read About This…

My friends, Latin Music Week is here. In most of the world, they probably don’t care much about it but in Miami, Latin Music is life. Buckle up. Hear the reggaeton and embrace the culture.

For my tribute this year, I’m going to uncover some secrets. Sound studios that not many people know about and they’re all right here with us. Some of the best sounds to blast on your speaker could have been produced right here. The stars could be your neighbors.

Latin Music has had such a surge in popularity and we are so happy to be able to be here with these people as they rise to stardom. Not everyone understands the words they sing, but they’re always soulful and never about violence. We have an immense respect for the hill these artists have to climb in order to get on the Billboard charts, so let’s celebrate them.

Where The Stars Live

If you have been out and about in Brickell, you might have bumped into a latin megastar without realizing it. They are known to have homes somewhere in the Brickell or Downtown area. When out and about, they look just like your or I.

I ran into J Balvin at brunch recently at Le Bouchon and aside from his hair color, he blended with everyone. Nobody bothered him and he didn’t bother anyone.

Nicky Jam was casually hanging out in the lobby of Rise at Brickell City Center, even though we have known him to have apartments at Millecento Residences and Paramount Miami Worldcenter, finally settling at 1000 Museum.

Chencho Corleone was a fixture at Barsecco with his signature hairstyle before he got famous. Now he would need a security detail but the vibe is still there and we can’t ignore Bad Bunny’s restaurant, Gekko, in SLS Lux.

If you go a little further north, you will find Porsche Design Tower. That is where Anuel AA lives.

Secret Studios

We aren’t supposed to talk about this but we will anyway. There are secret recording studios throughout Miami that produce some of the best music this decade will offer.

Paramount Miami Worldcenter has a studio where Nicky Jam still records. It is a common area amenity that is included with any rent or purchase in the building. Buy or rent a unit and you could potentially run into Nicky Jam in the studio. It’s not guaranteed, but it’s there.

In Infinity at Brickell, there is a studio under the name Gallardo Productions. They mostly work on Latin tracks and are based from Ecuador.

Skipping over to South Beach, we can’t avoid the secret studio in the penthouse of The Setai. Units there average $4 million without considering the secret penthouse recording studio. It was designed by Lenny Kravitz in the same time he designed the common spaces of Paramount Bay in Edgewater. At that moment, he blew everyone’s mind as nobody had pegged him to be an interior designer but here he is. The best of the best.

We are so happy this week to honor all of the Latin artists that keep our culture alive. Un abrazo!

Miami As An Emerging Global City – Banco Santander’s Expansion Into Coconut Grove

As 2023 rolls on, Miami’s finance and tech sectors are showing no signs of slowing down. Both the Brickell International Financial District and the burgeoning tech sectors that have popped up throughout the Greater Downtown Miami area are experiencing exponential growth despite signs of strain in the rest of the country.

There is even a book, detailing how Miami is now among the Emerging Global Cities with the company of Dubai and Singapore. These cities are joining the ranks of areas such as New York, London, Tokyo, and Paris.

At the same time all of this is happening, Coconut Grove is also experiencing a renaissance. The once sleepy community is now filled with glittering condo towers that enjoy amazing water views as well as the townhomes and single-family residences that are missing from the Greater Downtown area. Even with all of the growth and expansion, it has been done in a way that has preserved the casual quirkiness of The Grove and welcomed newcomers.

Banking & Tech’s Global Expansion Trickles Into Coconut Grove

Banco Santander, the 19th largest banking institution in the world is taking a huge leap in Miami. Being based in Madrid, Santander has long had a solid respect for the Magic City because of our international banking hub in Brickell. Some may not yet know this, but Brickell Avenue is home to the largest concentration of international banks in the world. It is the latin markets’ gate to the US.

Santander owns a 14-story Class A office tower at 1401 Brickell Avenue and has also committed to a 95,000-square-foot lease in the new Class AA office tower at 830 Brickell Avenue. It is curious how they can be so bullish on the market with the traditional news media touting a possible global recession. But Santander is not finished.

After announcing the new Brickell lease last October, they have also decided to make a big leap forward, moving all of their app development and technology functions to a new flexible workspace right here in Downtown Coconut Grove.

Why Coconut Grove Is Perfect For Tech Professionals

Historically, those who are successful in tech development flourish in an area that harbors creativity. Flexibility and balance foster collaboration, innovation and a sense of play. Coconut Grove is able to offer all of these factors just a stone’s throw from the hectic finance-centric hub in Brickell.

The new space will be located along Mary Street and Grand Avenue, in Mayfair in the Grove. Some seasoned Groveites will remember this space as being the old Miami Improv theater that closed in 2013 as prices rose when Park Grove was announced, kicking off Coconut Grove’s renaissance.

This thriving area is surrounded by sidewalk cafes with internationally-inspired menus, relaxing and manicured waterfront parks and so many amenities that nurture your sense of wonder and collaboration. With our international culture, hearing Spanish, French or Portuguese on the street is commonplace and the new team members at Santander will feel right at home no matter where their birthplace was.

Santander’s US Expansion

Despite already being listed in the top 20 financial institutions in the world, Santander is incredibly bullish coming into this new market. Just yesterday, it was announced that they are also expanding their investment banking arm in the US, as in previous years they have been more reliant upon Latin America for growth.

In their technology departments, they experienced an increase of 5 million digital customers just in 2021. A whopping 54% of total sales in 2021 were digital transactions, according to their website. Because of this, Santander Group has committed 2 Billion Euro per year to developing their tech-driven business.

Santander Group’s recognition of Coconut Grove is a feather in our cap as we continue to evolve, and we are proud that we can offer the lifestyle they seek for a successful new workspace for their new tech department.

Miami Spice 2023 | Restaurants To Try In Coconut Grove

Miami Spice is a very special time of year for Miami as a whole. For one, it helps our valuable culinary scene to remain strong during the slower season, when many are traveling to other beaches and enjoying their summer breaks. Miami Spice also offers a unique opportunity for Miamians to taste test restaurants that maybe they otherwise would have missed.

With special three-course prix-fixe menus at a reduced cost, Miami residents and tourists alike are able to sample the cuisine of world-famous chefs and trendy eateries. These are restaurants that we might skip over if we didn’t already know a bit of what to expect, as they are not traditionally inexpensive options. Adding Miami Spice months is the opportunity to try the cuisine at a reduced rate so that we know where we will want to splurge when we go out during high season. It’s a win-win for the entire community!

For 2023, there are a record 208 local restaurants participating in Miami Spice, which runs from August 1 – September 30 each year. With this number of options to try, we obviously cannot give a summary of each restaurant. Instead, we will break down the list into our favorites and arranged them by neighborhood and atmosphere. For this week, we will start with our own stomping grounds, Coconut Grove.

By clicking on the name of any of these restaurants, you will be directed to their Miami Spice page, which details their prix-fixe menu with options, prices, days available as well as their website and a link to their OpenTable account in order to make reservations.

Amal Lebanese Restaurant Miami Coconut Grove Entry

Amal Lebanese Restaurant Miami Coconut Grove Entry

Amal Miami – 3480 Main Highway

If you are a fan of Lebanese food or have been curious to expand your palate, Beirut-native Charles Khabouth’s Amal Miami is a great place to start. For Miami Spice, they are offering a three-course lunch on Monday through Friday for $30.

The appetizers are a choice of several authentic Lebanese dips with flatbread, my favorite would be the hummus or tabbouleh, but when eating Miami Spice menus, I always encourage each person at the table to choose a different appetizer and dessert so that you wind up with an extensive tasting menu.

The main entrees offer a choice of beef and lamb in the form of Pistachio Kababs or Kefta, homemade Amal Falafels or Salmon with chickpeas, tomatoes, sweet pepper and eggplant.

To wrap up, you will choose between assorted homemade Baklava or Mistkeh cotton candy and pistachio ice cream.

Bayshore Club Coconut Grove Patio

Bayshore Club – 3391 Pan American Drive

One of the newer locations in Coconut Grove, The Bayshore Club is located in the newly-redesigned Regatta Park along the Biscayne Bay. For Miami Spice, they are offering both a lunch menu at $35/person and dinner option for $60 as you enjoy the sea breeze on the patio or in the open-air bar area.

For lunch, you can choose between fresh ceviche and a niçoise salad for your starter, with blackened mahi or a grilled jerk chicken sandwich for your main dish. Both are dressed with tropical fruits and fixings. After your meal, you can cure your sweet tooth with a slice of cheesecake or bowl of seasonal sorbet before heading back to the office.

The dinner option is available Sunday through Thursday and starts with hearty steamed mussels or salmon tartare tostadas. The main dish is Jalieta, a crispy calamari, fish and seafood mix with yucca fries and avocado tartare, or a more healthy grilled fresh protein skewer (fish, beef, shrimp, chicken, onion, zucchini, and bell peppers) with yucca mash. The dinner finishes with your choice of cheesecake or churros.

Bill Hansen Catering Coconut Grove

Bill Hansen Catering – 2167 South Bayshore Drive

Something outside of the box this year is Bill Hansen Catering’s Miami Spice Menu. The menu itself is as decadent as you would expect at any time of the year from the renowned event-planning service. What is different is that Miami Spice is offered for parties this year.

If you have an event of 50+ attendees, you will have the option of a lunch or dinner menu to offer your guests. The appetizers involve several different salad offerings from arugula and watercress, caprese with buratta cheese and charred tomatoes, crab cakes or more traditional caesar salad or iceberg wedges.

The entrees will allow the host to choose two options between fish, steak, chicken or lobster. There are several varieties on each menu with different preparations. Finishing up, you are offered a chocolate torte or strawberry cheesecake.

Botanico Coconut Grove

Botanico Coconut Grove | Image Credit: Botanico

Botanico Gin & Cookhouse – 3015 Grand Avenue Cocowalk

In Cocowalk, Botanico blew our mind with their offering for Miami Spice. They pulled out all the stops with a comprehensive menu for both lunch and dinner every day of the week. This is a menu you will be able to visit several times in order to get a taste of everything.

The appetizers offer seven options for lunch and eight for dinner. As an added flex option, if you are dining with a companion, you may switch one of the appetizers for two glasses of any of the house wines.

The main entrees also offer seven options for both lunch and dinner. You can choose anything from a large salad, a gourmet burger, sauteed salmon, tuna steak, sirloin steak, filet or ribeye. The list is extensive.

Before calling it a meal, you will choose between two options of key lime pie, seasonal sorbet or vanilla gelato.

Glass and Vine Coconut Grove

Glass and Vine Coconut Grove | Image Credit: Glass & Vine

Glass & Vine – 2820 McFarlane Road

In Peacock Park, Glass & Vine is one of our favorite places to have a family-friendly date night. There is a kiddie play area within walking distance for our daughter, and plenty of romantic ambiance with a casual garden and inspired menu with Latin and European influences.

For Miami Spice, they are offering a $30 lunch option Monday through Friday as well as a $45 dinner option on Sunday through Thursday evenings.

The menu is filled with summer-friendly choices such as watermelon feta salad, branzino crudo with cucumber, radish and citrus, and charred cauliflower with green tahini and lemon. Main dishes are also well-rounded with steaks, seared scallops, citrus brined chicken, seared mahi or spicy rigatoni. The meal completes with a southern staple, banana pudding or your choice of guava bread pudding or key lime pie.

Isabelle's Grill Room and Garden Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove

Isabelle’s Grill Room & Garden – 3300 Southwest 27th Avenue

If you find yourself at the Ritz Carlton Coconut Grove, you will want to partake on Isabelle’s Grill Room & Garden’s Miami Spice offering. Available Monday through Thursday for lunch ($35) or dinner ($60), you will dine in the comfortable elegance of the indoor grill room or the outdoor garden terrace if you prefer the fresh air.

Your starters will include Ricotta Bruciata, Pomodoro Verdi Fritti, or Beef Tartare, all which incorporate summer tomatoes with cheeses and protien in light portions. The main dish choices are also thoughtfully chosen and well-rounded. There is a Pasta Pomodoro, a Surf & Turf or Heritage Roasted Chicken accompanied by seasonal sides. Wrapping up, you can choose between a Chocolate Budino Tart or Tropical Napoleon with sorbet and mousse.

Jaguar Restaurant Coconut Grove

Jaguar Restaurant – 3067 Grand Avenue

No matter the day of the week, Jaguar Restaurant is going to have a Miami Spice lunch or diner for you. The lunches are priced at $35 and dinners are $60 per person, but if you have yet to try Jaguar, this is a great time to get in on one of Coconut Grove’s staple eateries.

The Peruvian-inspired menu offers shrimp in aji amarillo sauce, ceviche, fish croquetas or three-cheese quesadillas for appetizer options. For dinner you can try a Fresh Whole Snapper, roasted with salsa and orange mojo, or Caribbean Chicken Patagonia. The lunch main courses are beefy Lomo Saltado or seared Salmon Norma. Finish up your meal with a creamy Flan de Queso.

The Key Club – 3015 Grand Avenue

If you are a fan of Groot Hospitality’s offerings, The Key Club in Cocowalk is going to be your first stop in Coconut Grove during Miami Spice. Since it opened in 2022, The Key Club has been an ever-growing destination for nights out with good food and good company. Let’s face it, Dave Grutman is good at what he does.

Since the restaurant caters toward the social crowd, they are offering a $35 brunch on the weekends and a $45 dinner any night of the week.

The brunch offering includes snapper ceviche, a bourbon sticky bun, baby beet salad or smoked salmon rosti for the starters, and your choice of Cinnamon Toast Crunch French Toast, a spicy croissant sandwich, a Club Burger or Black Truffle Omelet followed by creme brulee or key lime pie to wash away your sins of the night before.

If you would prefer to start the night off at The Key Club, they are preparing a similar offering of starters, adding a tuna roll or steak tartare, with your choice of branzino and lemon with capers, organic half chicken with salsa verde, bbw baby back ribs or skirt steak frites with chimichurri followed by a warm salted caramel brownie or key lime pie to finish up.

If these other menus are sounding too “meaty” for your taste, you’re going to want to check out Minty Z. This is where you’re going to find all of the Asian-fusion plant-based options you could possibly want.

Minty Z is the only restaurant in Coconut Grove to offer so many different Miami Spice menus. They have a $35 lunch special during the week, or a $35 brunch menu during the weekend. If you visit for dinner, there is a menu that is $45 per person. or an expanded option that is $60 per person. Each menu features its own list of choices that vary quite a bit and could really warrant their own post just for this one restaurant.

One ingredient that sticks out to me is the prosperity “beef”, which is prepared in an array of forms from classic bao buns to shumai, chow fun and more. Visit the website here to see all of the menu options.

Sushi Garage – 3015 Grand Avenue Cocowalk

If you are new to the area, the idea of a “Sushi Garage” might sound quirky at first, but this restaurant group is a part of Juvia Group, a lineup of elegant Japanese cuisine in casual yet elevated settings. The juxtaposition is quite fun.

As the restaurant is open for dinner seatings only during most of the week, they are not offering lunch menus. The dinner selections for Miami Spice begin with a complimentary specialty cocktail as you peruse the menu to decide your combinations.

For appetizers, you can choose between black edamame, avocado crispy rice, Wagyu beef gyoza or shrimp tempura tacos. These are definitely shareable, so I suggest that each person in your party to choose one to share. The main courses are all served with miso soup and fried rice. You can choose between Maple Miso Seabass, Tenderloin Teriyaki or the Sushi Combo (Chef’s Choice). Before turning in, you can appease your sweet tooth with a choice of ice cream flavors, Lychee Rice Pudding or Chocolate Lava Cake.

Miami Spice is one of the most anticipated Miami promotions of the year each year. It is something the locals look forward to and the restaurants depend upon in order to keep their staff happy and busy and the Miami economy turning during low season. We hope that you will make it out to try at least one of these options this year, we will certainly be there ad look forward to expanding our Groveite culinary horizons.

Coconut Grove Will Celebrate 4th Of July With Sustainable Festivities

Happy Independence Day! Every year, the entire City of Miami and Miami Beach celebrate the Fourth of July in grand style. It seems that every neighborhood has a spectacular fireworks display that is free to the public so that we can all celebrate America’s birthday. This year, Coconut Grove is planning something a little bit different.

In an effort to reduce waste and be more environmentally friendly, paired with our love of innovation, the Coconut Grove Family Fun and Field Day is going to take a sustainable turn. Join us in Peacock Park for an eco-friendly picnic contest, where you can enter your sustainable picnic setup and win prizes, enjoy refreshments and snacks from local restaurants, all served in plastic-free biodegradable dishes called Bekko Boxes, and as dark falls, there will be an innovative drone show to replace the traditional fireworks display!

The drone show will eliminate not only the pollution to the Biscayne Bay and our beloved mangroves, but also will save our furry friends from their anxiety of the noise pollution. Additionally, we may not think of it first-hand, but the loud bangs of traditional fireworks incite the anxiety of many of our front-line veterans who fought in order to allow us to continue our freedom and traditions. There is no reason why we all can’t win, and the drone show is the perfect way to stay on the cutting edge, while being respectful to our environment and those around us.

This year’s drone show is set to a spectacular concert led by The Miami Symphony Orchestra. We are so eager to see what they have in store, and seeing the tradition, music and nature converge in perfect harmony.

Regatta Grove Opening Happens Today In Regatta Harbour!

Today is an exciting day for Coconut Grove. The very much-anticipated Regatta Grove is opening along the waterfront at Regatta Harbour.

Regatta Grove is so interesting because it is a conglomerate of 5 of Florida’s best chefs each bringing their talents under one roof. This will activate a full acre of the waterfront property, near where the popular Bayshore Club opened last summer. In addition to the gourmet food (which I’ll get to), the 400-seat eatery also offers 3 bars offering cocktails, beer, wine, and signature shareable cocktails made with fresh fruit.

Breakwater Hospitality Group is behind Regatta Grove, they are also behind the uber-popular Wharf Miami, Carousel Club and JohnMartin’s Irish Pub.  Emi Guerra from Breakwater recently told the Miami New Times, “Our vision for Regatta Grove is to create a vibrant community space that stays true to the essence of Coconut Grove. From the stunning location at Regatta Harbor to the coastal decor and tropical cocktail program, we want guests to feel like they can step away from the hustle and bustle, wind down, and make great memories here.”

In order to bring this vision to fruition, Breakwater collaborated with Grove Bay Hospitality Group curating a collection of the best chefs in Florida to each showcase their talents and concepts in the al fresco eatery.

Janine Booth and Jeff McInnis are James Beard semifinalist nominees. They founded Root & Bone and Stiltsville Fish Bar.

Janine plans offerings from down under with Sunny Side Aussie Bites + Ice by Chef Janine Booth. Her menu will feature savory Aussie pies, sausage rolls, empanadas, avocado toast and cooling desserts like ice cream and sorbet.

Jeff is going coastal with Tackle Box by Chef Jeff McInnis. This is a local seafood shack with casual items like fish tail sliders or more elegant choices like chilled stone crab and caviar.

Jose Mendin is behind Pubbelly and also was nominated as a James Beard semifinalist. He’s going gangster with The Piefather. This is where you can get pizza with imported Italian toppings and the chef’s signature “Don” sauce.

Up in Jacksonville, Kenny Gilbert started Silkies and was a finalist on Top Chef’s 7th Season. In Coconut Grove, he is doing fried chicken and artisanal drop biscuit sandwiches with his “Flavor Bomb” sauce. His post is called House of Birds & Drop Biscuits by Chef Kenny Gilbert.

Jeremy Ford was featured here just a few weeks ago for his Michelin Star at Stubborn Seed on South Beach. He also won Top Chef Season 13. His Regatta Grove concept will be JJ’s Guilty Pleasures by Chef Jeremy Ford. It will offer different gourmet burgers including a soft-shell crab burger, tacos, truffle fries and onion rings.

What a fun and talented lineup in an amazing location! If you go, you will want to RSVP, especially this weekend. But with an RSVP you get a free cocktail all weekend and some of us like to be the first to try. See you there!

Coconut Grove Breaks Sales Records Again With $49 Million Trophy Property

Coconut Grove has reclaimed its title as the holder of the most expensive home sale in Miami Dade County for 2023 with the off-market purchase of 3301 Moorings Way for $49 million, property records show. While the identity of the buyer remains under wraps, the transaction has been logged by the county for the 8,879-square-foot waterfront manse that was previously owned by Carlos and Luciana Haskim.

The Haskims acquired the six-bedroom home in 2010 for $10.1 million. The home was constructed in 2007 with a waterfront infinity pool, loggia, and 2 levels of Mediterranean-inspired opulence on a lot that is just over 1/2 acre.

Looking at the sales figures, the Moorings Way deal amounts to $5,500 per square foot of air conditioned space, or $1,875 per square foot of land. The second most expensive transfer took place in March of this year when wealth manager Paul Morelli paid $48.5 million for a waterfront home at 3007 Brickell Avenue in northeast Coconut Grove/South Brickell. This deal added to a multi-acre assemblage, but the home itself traded for $6,250 per square foot.

Last fall, hedge fund billionaire Ken Griffin paid $107 million for a 4-acre waterfront property with two mansions on it. This deal amounted to $614-per-square-foot of land. He later announced plans to relocate one of the homes to be enjoyed by the public, as it is a historic property.

Mr. Haskim earned his ranks as a neuroscientist and biomedical engineer who was involved with the development of a device to treat certain forms of dementia, according to The Real Deal. Mrs. Haskim also has an impressive resume as an attorney who works on international transactions. They are both keen investors, earning five times the purchase price on their luxurious home.

Gladswood, LLC is listed as the new owner. Being that it is registered in Delaware, we are unable to determine who is behind this curtain until a formal announcement is made.

These transactions are all testimonies to the point we were making yesterday about the vitality of Miami’s luxury real estate market. While other cities are struggling under the pressure of increased rates and decreased sales activity, the Miami area is struggling only under growing pains and lack of inventory. Of all of the areas in Miami, Coconut Grove is continuing its renaissance with no end in sight and we welcome all of the new neighbors to our community.

If you are interested in learning more about life in Coconut Grove, please contact Michael Light, Grove resident as well as Broker and Executive Director of Luxury Sales at Douglas Elliman Real Estate. We are incredibly tied-in with the community and able to track down off-market deals if needed. We would love to have you as a neighbor.

A Mother’s Day Tribute: Silly Monkey’s Playhouse In Coconut Grove

Happy Mother’s Day to all the hard-working moms out there! Let’s face it, mothering is work. Extremely rewarding work, but work nevertheless. For those of you who have never had the experience of motherhood, just imagine your entire body morphing for months. In the end, you have a small person with zero skills or knowledge that you are responsible for and there is NO INSTRUCTION MANUAL. It is up to you to teach this little being everything, doing your best to guide them in the right direction to one day lead an enriching life of their own. As rewarding as it is, it’s quite a challenge!

So for this year’s Mother’s Day post, we would like to highlight a local, mom-owned business that has been monumental in helping us to enrich the life of our daughter, London. Coconut Grove’s Silly Monkey Playhouse. Located in Cocowalk in Center Coconut Grove, it is quite convenient, especially for locals. There is ample parking nearby, or the freebee can deliver you and your little right to the doorstep for some sensory fun.

What To Expect

Silly Monkey’s Playhouse is dedicated to helping children and parents to bond and communicate, even before the kids are verbal. Using music, art and play they embrace the natural tendencies for little ones to explore and socialize. There are a host of classes available, and each one is custom-tailored to each child’s age group. They can experience the world at their own pace. Some children are quiet and observant and some are into everything, busily discovering whatever they can and will encounter.

There are several options for classes. Our now favorites are the Music, Art & Playground in English and then again in Spanish on another day in the week. Let’s face it, Spanish is an integral part of life here in the Miami area.

The Music, Art & Playground course hones in on your child’s playfulness. It encourages independence, and stimulates curiosity. The projects change weekly, so a new discovery can take place every week for a full year. These are 1-hour each, broken down into 3 sections of about 20 minutes each in order to accommodate for the attention span of these young brains.

This summer, we will be adding a third day for our little one. The added course will be the 90-minute Music, Learn & Playground, where early childhood academics are introduced. They start learning ABC’s, colors, basic math, and other cognitive abilities to prepare our child for preschool.

How To Get Involved

If you are interested in enrolling your child, just visit their website or call Georgia, the owner and teacher since its inception in 2010. She has been incredibly helpful to us over the last year, and we cannot thank her enough. There is so much pressure to set your little one on the right path, no way can anyone do it alone and Georgia has been a godsend to us. Her prices are reasonable and follow-up is spectacular. The courses are sold in 8-week packages, but this is not the type of experience you would want to do on a one-off basis. You want to go for awhile so that you can experience the rapid development of your little gift.

We did not share additional photos because we are sensitive to sharing photos of other people’s children on the internet, but you can visit the website here, or follow Silly Monkey’s Playhouse’s Instagram here.

We hope to see you and your little one on the playground and Happy Mother’s Day!
