The 2025 Vision for the Future of Downtown Miami

The Miami Downtown Development Authority (“Miami DDA”) has a truly unique vision for the development of Downtown Miami. This unique vision has been laid out in the “2025 Downtown Miami Master Plan,” which was unanimously voted for approval by the Miami DDA board of directors.

Within the Master Plan planned for Downtown Miami, is the 2025 Vision Statement which essentially sums up what the Downtown Miami area will be like by the year 2025 with all of the significant growth and transformation of Downtown Miami and its surrounding areas. The 2025 Vision Statement is as follows: “Downtown Miami is the business, social and cultural epicenter of the Americas, which capitalizes on its unique position as a major world city in a tropical waterfront environment.”

I believe that this statement will provide to be accurate. With all of the positive changes that have come and/or are coming to Downtown Miami, Miami is going to prove this instrumental transformation. From the new Pérez Art Museum to the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science to Museum Park to the Miami Worldcenter to the walkability project along Biscayne Bay a/k/a Biscayne Green, Downtown Miami is becoming the hautest place to live, work, relax and play!

Specifically, the 2025 Master Plan for Downtown Miami (bounded at the south end by SE 15^th Road and on the north by NE 22^nd Street and on the west by I-95 and on the east by Biscayne Bay) consists of 5 main goals.

1. Make Downtown Miami the business and cultural epicenter of the Americas;
2. Utilize the city of Miami’s gorgeous and iconic tropical waterfront;
3. Raise up Downtown Miami’s grand boulevards to prominence;
4. Create great streets and community spaces throughout Downtown Miami and its surrounding areas; and
5. Promote transit and regional connectivity.
