Everyone has been talking about the east side of Downtown Miami and the major developments including the Miami Worldcenter, Museum Park and the multitude of new construction condo developments, but now it’s time to talk about the western side of Downtown Miami.

The western side of Downtown Miami is the area right between Interstate 95 and Miami Avenue and includes the biggest rail train station in Miami, Government Center Station. This area definitely needs some TLC and All Aboard Florida is going to give it just that as it is planning to build the Miami’s “Grand Central Station.”

Miami’s Grand Central Station will be an enormous, elevated station situated on various sections of parking lots between the Metrorail and NW 1^st Avenue connecting the Government Center Station, according to Curbed Miami.  The station and the surrounding transit-oriented project will span nearly 3 Million square feet and 2 sites, according to All Aboard Florida.

Miami’s Grand Central Station will not only be a first-class express passenger rail service transporting people from Miami to Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and Orlando, but Miami’s Grand Central Station will include ample commercial, retail and office space.  In addition, it is a possibility that a Miami-Dade County Transit Bus Depot may be combined with the project to allow the exchange for county land that sits adjacent to the proposed project, thereby expanding the project into an even bigger space.
